Turning Copilot on takes a few settings. Running it well takes someone who knows what sits behind them.
Choosing a Dynamics 365 Copilot implementation partner is harder than it looks, because the visible work is small. The admin steps are a handful of settings. The real work is everything behind them: the data, the access, the approvals and who owns the result after go-live.
This guide follows the order of a real rollout. Where we describe our own approach, read it as one provider's view. Our Microsoft Copilot consulting services cover Copilot for Dynamics 365, Microsoft 365, Power Platform and Copilot Studio, plus readiness, governance and adoption.
What Setup Actually Involves
The switches are simple. The decisions behind them are not.
Microsoft's guide to enabling agent management in finance and operations apps shows the shape of it. An administrator links a Dataverse environment, installs a Copilot solution, turns on the Copilot feature, assigns billing credits and then enables the feature in the app.
Microsoft also says the organization is billed for each deployed agent. Other Dynamics 365 apps have their own steps, so a partner who calls this a quick toggle has probably not done it at scale.
Questions to Ask a Dynamics 365 Copilot Implementation Partner
Seven questions, in the order a rollout runs.
First, which environments and data will Copilot touch, and who owns data quality? Dynamics 365 apps run on Microsoft Dataverse, so the state of that data shapes what Copilot can do.
Second, who can use it, and what can it reach? Ask about role-based access, sensitivity labels and data governance, and who approves changes to them. Third, which actions need a human sign-off? Writes, payments and anything irreversible should be named in advance, as covered in our Copilot Studio implementation guide.
Fourth, what will it cost to run, not only to set up? Ask for licensing, credits and monitoring in one estimate.
Fifth, how will you see what it did? Microsoft says agent activity in finance and operations apps is kept for 90 days by default and that there is no direct interface for overriding an individual user's action, so ask how the partner handles reversals.
Sixth, how is success measured, and who signs it off? Insist on a baseline for one workflow before anything is switched on, as set out in how skeptical CIOs can prove AI automation savings. Seventh, what happens after go-live? Training, ongoing administration and a named owner decide whether the rollout holds.
Red Flags in a Copilot Proposal
Most are visible in the first conversation.
Be wary of a proposal that treats Copilot as a switch, and of one that fixes scope before reviewing your environments. Watch for no named owner for governance, no plan for activity logs, and productivity percentages quoted without a baseline.
A promise of risk-free deployment is also a warning. Any partner who says that has not yet met your data.
What We Have Seen
The conversation before the contract tells you most of what you need.
NSquare engagements start with discovery, and we deliver from a Frisco and Pune onshore-offshore model with SLA-backed delivery. Our Copilot readiness, governance and adoption work covers usage policies, role-based access, data governance and sensitivity labels, approval workflows, compliance frameworks and team training.
We do not quote cost or timeline figures here, because they depend on your apps, environments and data. If you are comparing partners and want a second opinion on a proposal, talk to the NSquare team.
FAQs
Short answers to what buyers ask first.
What does a Copilot partner for Dynamics 365 do?
It reviews your data and environments, sets up access and approvals, configures Copilot features, trains users and stays accountable for results after go-live.
Can we turn on Copilot ourselves?
Microsoft publishes the admin steps, so some teams can. A partner adds most value on data readiness, access, approvals and monitoring.
How much does a Copilot implementation cost?
It depends on the apps, environments and scope. Microsoft bills per deployed agent in finance and operations apps, so ask for the full running cost, not only the setup fee.
What should a partner review before enabling Copilot?
Your data quality, who has access, which actions need approval, and how success will be measured against a baseline.
